Our History |
The New York Knicks were founded in 1946 by Ned Irish, one of the founding members of the Basketball Association of America (BAA), which became the NBA after merging with the National Basketball League in 1949. Beginning in 1950, the Knicks made their first 3 appearances in the NBA Finals, which all were losing efforts. They won their first two championships in the 1960s when Red Holzman became coach. The Knicks were playoff contenders later throughout the years, but never made it to the finals until Patrick Erwing began to make his era, leading them to two NBA Finals appearances. So far the Knicks have struggled to make a Finals appearance but should still be looked at as a great team overall.
